METAP Webinar: Marine Energy Regulatory Framework: Challenges & Solutions
July 15, 2010
1:00pm — 2:30pm
This webinar, the third in a series for the State/Federal Marine Energy Technology Advancement Project (METAP), will review the regulatory framework surrounding marine energy projects. Siting marine energy projects in the United States is extremely challenging because of the diverse state and federal jurisdictions involved, the relative lack of information on potential effects of these projects, and the lack of predictable and clear siting requirements and best management practices applicable to this emerging technology sector. As a result, permitting and licensing authorizations for hydrokinetic projects can involve lengthy and costly regulatory processes and significant uncertainty for developers and regulators alike.
